City Announcements

  • ATTENTION
    ...
The City has been made aware that residents in Rogers and surrounding cities have recently received calls or messages from people claiming to be a company or contractor “working with the city” regarding outstanding building permits, etc.
    ...
Please note that the City of Rogers is not “working with” or partnering with any such contractor or vendor with regard to building permits or similar information.
    ...
While we cannot say for sure whether this is a misleading marketing technique or an outright scam, it is important to note that any official contacts regarding building permits would come directly from City of Rogers Building Inspections staff (or our contract building inspectors at Metro West Inspections) to either the property owner or their private contractor, with no other outside companies being involved.

  • The City Council will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at 7 p.m. by online/virtual meeting and in person at 21201 Memorial Drive, Rogers, MN to consider the proposed vacation of 133rd Avenue Right Of Way 23100 Edison Court, 13255 Arthur Street and 13280 Arthur Street.

Please view the link for the attached Notice of Public Hearing with map.

  • Important Utility Billing Update

Due to technical difficulties with our meter reading system, we were only able to collect water usage data through May 22nd. As a result, your upcoming utility bill may not include water consumption for the period after May 22nd.

    What this means:

    • Your June water bill may be lower than usual.

    • Your July bill may be higher, covering the unbilled usage from late May onward.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding!

  • Dear Rogers Residents,

Currently, there are proposed zoning bills that, if enacted, could greatly reduce local zoning authority and significantly alter the character of single-family neighborhoods within the City while limiting public input.

    Bill topics include:

    • Minnesota Starter Home Act

    • More Homes, Right Places Act

    • Transforming Main Street Act

    • Preemption of Municipal Design Standards

    • Prohibition on Minimum Housing Parking Requirements

I highly encourage residents and business owners to review the bills on house.mn.gov and senate.mn.gov, and to reach out to our representatives to oppose these bills.

    Sincerely,

    Mayor Shannon Klick

    Representative Danny Nadeau
    rep.dannynadeau@house.mn.gov

    Senator John Hoffman

Elm Creek Watershed Commission Seeking Input From the Public on Priorities for Lakes and Streams in Northwest Hennepin County

The cities in northwestern Hennepin County are home to many lakes, creeks, and wetlands that provide opportunities for swimming, fishing, hiking, and general enjoyment. The Elm Creek Watershed Management Commission is updating its ten year plan to protect and improve those water resources. In the last ten years the Commission, cities, and partners such as Three Rivers Park District and Hennepin County have improved water quality in Fish Lake in Maple Grove, stabilized and restored almost six miles of Elm Creek and Rush Creek, and taught over 22,000 fourth graders about the water cycle and water quality. The Watershed Commission wants the public’s input on priorities and proposed actions in its “Fourth Generation Plan.” A new public opinion  survey is available online, and drafts of the watershed plan are available for public review on the Commission’s website at www.elmcreekwatershed.org.

Projects coming up include carp and fish management on Fish and Rice Lakes, an alum treatment to improve water quality in Diamond Lake in Dayton, and continued restoration of eroding stretches of Rush Creek and South Fork Rush Creek in Maple Grove. One priority for the coming ten years includes managing the amount of road salt used in the watershed. Elm Creek was recently found to have high levels of chloride in the stream, which can impact fish. Another priority is understanding how changes in precipitation and continued development in the watershed might impact flooding potential 30-40 years from now. The Commission will continue to partner with Hennepin County to provide technical and financial assistance to the agricultural community in the watershed for voluntary actions to continue and enhance their stewardship of the land.

The Elm Creek watershed includes all or parts of Champlin, Dayton, Rogers, Maple Grove, Corcoran, Plymouth, and Medina. The public opinion survey, which is open to anyone who lives, works, or recreates in the watershed, and the management plan can be found on the Commission’s website at www.elmcreekwatershed.org. Public comments will be taken until about mid-summer 2025.
